Yapahuwa Rock Fortress / Sri Lanka

Yapahuwa Rock Fortress / Sri Lanka

Yapahuwa is world famous Rock Fortress lying midway between Kurunegala and Anuradhapura Sri Lanka.    It was the capital of the country for a brief period of King 4th Buwanekabahu's king period.

Me (at the to of the rock)

We visited there when we were on our way home  Anuradhapura. When we reached there it was evening.

At the foot of the rock there was a ancient Buddhist temple. First of all we worshipped the temple. Then we started to climb. The first set of staircase was amazing 😲  Because it was single straight.

World famous Yapahuwa lion statues could see after that. 🦁🦁 Actually I felt proud and surprise when I saw those lion statues made of stones.

Yapahuwa Lions

Then there was a foot path across a little jungle. After the jungle path we reached to the difficult part of the journey. Because again there was a single straight staircase. It was hard and dangerous than the earlier one. 😰

Somehow, after 10 - 15 minutes we could reach the top of the rock.  Actually the view was amazing. Because it was evening and sun shine also no hard.

We spent around 10 minutes at the top of the rock and started to got down.

Single Straight Staircase

So, If you love historical places and ancient cities this is good place to visit. Also, This journey can be called a trip where you can get more pleasure and knowledge for less money. πŸ˜πŸ€‘
